Default Which OLAP front-end will you recommend? Please - 04-16-2004 , 09:24 PM

Hi All,

I am thinking about evaluating ProClarity or NovaView but I have been
told that both do NOT sell only desktop clients [Andrej, I hope you
are reading this and if so please do advice]

Other than ProClarity and NovaView what other products should I consider
given that :

1. I want a desktop client version (without requiring a web server or
ISS).

2. Something better than Microsoft Data Analyzer (MSDA) and can be a bit
more expensive than MSDA but not too much expensive (e.g. the BIG
players which I am sure are excellent tools though)

Please guide. I am sure that that there are MANY tools are there and
would like to request suggestions from people who are using different
tools.

Thanks.

Apart from ProClarity and NovaView, which are both good products, Temtec
Executive Viewer is also worth considering. However, I'm not sure if you
will be able to buy the pure desktop client and may also need to buy the
server.

There are also a number of good Excel add-ins that are much more
functional than Excel PivotTables and are usually cheaper than the full
clients. They also don't usually need to use an app or Web server.
Examples include BIXL, IntelligentApps, MIS Plain, Visual OLAP, XLCubed,
etc.

Nigel,

Appreciate your reply. I'll check their web sites and see if they offer
an evaluation version. I hope one of these will fulfil my requirements.

Via this post I would like to request feedback.experience sharing from
readers who have used any of the tools that Nigel has listed I.e. Temtec
Executive Viewer, BIXL, IntelligentApps, MIS Plain, Visual OLAP,
XLCubed, etc.

Thanks.

Hi,

First of all we can deliver you Panorama NovaView Desktop (Windows
Desktop) only if you want. Further there are some nice other Windows
Desktops only, but I would like to advise you the unknown but great
DataWarehouse Explorer.

Please visit our website www.gmsbv.nl for more info and if you are
interested we have 30-day Trial versions available of both products.

Regards,
Marco

Hi,

I visited your site but did not find (under the Products section)
anything called "DataWarehouse Explorer". Which product are you
referring to?

Thanks.
