I am running SQL 2K SP3 and when I process the cube from analysis
manager it takes less than 1 minute and when I run the same from DTS
with the OLAP task the job runs forever.

I am not sure despite have read so many postings I do not know what
happens that the process gets hung when run from DTS. Please help.

Make sure any task that "touches" the OLAP task is set to execute on
main
thread. The OLAP task is written in VB so only supports main thread
access.
The option is found under the workflow properties of the step.
