I'm unable to connect through the OLAP client to the Server. The OLAP server is SQL Server 2000 in Windows 2003. The domain network is Windows 2000 and the Windows 2003 server is not a part of the domain. The client is Windows XP Professional with the client OLAP + service pack 3 installed on it(Logging onto the Windows 2000 domain at boot up). The OLAP client is run on the client computer and an attempt is made to register the OLAP Server by entering the DNS name of the OLAP server, however the OLAP server is not recognized and an 'authentication' error occurs. What is required for the client to connect to the OLAP Server? |

Also, the client user was added to the OLAP administrator group and service pack 3 was installed on the client computer. "Jim" wrote: I'm unable to connect through the OLAP client to the Server. The exact error I'm getting is: "Errors occured whilte connecting to server. Cannot open connection to Analysis server 'mindset'. Error in data [possible data corruption] Do you still want to register this server?" Didn't you say in the first posting that the server wasn't in the domain? You must have a common trusted domain between the client and the server. This is true for both querying and administration. I'm going to be both administering and querying the server and your right, and the server is not in the domain. It sounds like the server needs to be added to the domain. I'll give this a shot.
