Scenario
Server is Windows 2003 SBS w/ SQL 2000 SP
Client is Windows XP Pro SP

I receive the following error when connecting to the Analysis server via OLE Provider for OLAP 8.0
Unable to open connection. The operation requested failed due to security problems - the user could not be authenticated

A similar error occurs when connecting to an Excel OLAP table published to Sharepoint Services

The user account is authenticating to the Active Directory and the same user account works just fine on other XP clients. What could be missing or different about this client?

Hi,

Could be corruption of the roles. The easiest way is to stop Analysis
Service, rename the data folder, create a
new data folder, restart Analysis Service, reprocess all the cubes.
