Default OLAP Admin Group - 09-01-2004 , 01:53 PM

I am trying to register a server, and I get a message "unable to connect to
the registry on the server" or you are not a member of an OLAP
administrators group".

What can I do to resolve this issue.

Paul

machine administrators are automatically OLAP administrators also (even
though they don't appear in the group)

You should see a group called 'Olap Administrators'. Your User ID needs to
be in there.

The OLAP Administrators group is installed by AS setup on Win XP as well.
Just use the Computer OLAP Administrators Management console and check local
groups.
Besides that, be sure to install SQL and AS SP3a. After latest pathces for
Win XP, I've seen the same message for AS without SP3a, although I was a
member of the mentioned OLAP Administrators group. After SP3a, the problem
gone away.
