It is clear that it is a bug, and that we need a hotfix. What I am
unclear about is whether we will be charged for this.
Please can you tell me if I should log a call and be certain that it
is a no-fee one, or how can I obtain this hotfix otherwise? I am an
MSDN Universal subscriber - does that make any difference? |
All hotfixes are free for everyone. The trick is that you have to call
and request it. In the US, I call (800) 936-5800. That line has an
automated menu with a selection for requesting a hotfix. International
lines may be handled differently.
Note from the web page mentioned above:
"In special cases, charges that are ordinarily incurred for support
calls may be canceled if a Microsoft Support Professional determines
that a specific update will resolve your problem. The usual support
costs will apply to additional support questions and issues that do not
qualify for the specific update in question."
I've never heard of someone being charged for a hotfix. BUT, if you
take the opportunity to ask other questions, since you've "got them on
the phone", you would be charged for those questions.
