Default [Object does not exist] when processing virtual dimensions - 12-06-2004 , 04:25 AM

Hi,

I've a problem with some cubes that are built using virtual dimensions. When
I process them, I get the following error: Analysis Server Error: Internal
Error [Object Does Not Exist ].

I found a document in MS KB ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/821103 ) and I
verified that I'm in the situation described in that article: the error is
caused by a bug in the Analysis Services.Unluckily there's not a direct link
to a fix, even if MS suggests to contact his support to obtain one. Has
anybody already got this fix? I must resolve this problem as soon as
possible, moreover I don't want to pay for MS support, since the cause of
all is a bug in the analysis Services.

Thank you very much for your help,

Marzio

Full process your dimension behind the virtual dimension.

I tried this, but it does not work.

In the meanwhile I contacted MS to get the Hotfix (I must say they've been
kind and efficient, because they sent me the hotfix in a few minutes by email
without charge, since the cause of my problem is a bug in the Analysis
Services). I installed the fix following the instructions, but the problem is
still there.

I made some tests and I found that the problems start after installing
Visual Studio 6.0 Service Pack 6.0. In fact the development server has a VS6
enviroment on it. Now I'm trying to reinstall it without the SP6 to see if
everything works.

Thankyou anyway. I'll keep you up to date. Please let me know if you have
other ideas.

Regards,

Marzio

Default It Worked - 08-16-2006 , 03:36 AM

Hi,

I had a similar problem. I've tried jeje solution as follows:

1. I removed the virtual dim from the star scheme.
2. I rebuilded the dim on which the virtual is based on.
3. I added the virtual dim to the scheme again.
4. Processed my partition.

et voile, it worked great. Thanks jeje.
