Default Not getting the Write Enable options as mentioned in the Tutorial - 04-03-2004 , 03:13 AM

Hi,

I am facing this problem while going through the 3rd Tutorial of
Analysis Services (the one where you have to create a Parent-child
dimension using the accounts table...)

As per the tutorial I am supposed to also get a Write-Enable option for
my dimension. However I do not get this option. I have checked and I
have the rights on the BIN folder (C:\Program Files\.....) where
analysis service is installed. I have also checked and I am a member of
the OLAP Administrator group on the PC...

What could be wrong? Please help.

Thanks.

Dimension write-back may (?) be an enterprise edition feature.

Does this mean that I need the enterprise version of SQL in order to get
my problem solved?

Another option, as long as you are just "learning", is SQL Server
Developer Edition, which has Enterprise features:

http://www.microsoft.com/sql/techinf...ng/ChoosEd.doc
Quote:
SQL Server 2000 Developer Edition

This edition allows developers to build any type of application on top
of SQL Server. It includes all of the functionality of Enterprise
Edition but with a special development and test end-user license
agreement (EULA) that prohibits production deployment (for complete
details, see the SQL Server 2000 Developer Edition EULA at
http://www.microsoft.com/sql. For maximum flexibility during
development, it will install to the aforementioned server operating
systems as well as Windows 2000 Professional and Windows NT Workstation
4.0.

Please make sure you are using Enterprise Edition of SQL
Server.
