Hi,
I am new to OLAP / Datawarehousing -- have been reading a lot and have
started trying SSAS2005.

My questions/requests are:

Could someone please point out the tools you use for designing and
developing your data warehouse? Do people use Visio? or ERWin? Or some other
dimensional modeling tool? Do you do it all through SQL Server / Analysis
Services?

Are there any must have tools for the db design + application integration?
(e.g. I have a developer background, so I would say use NUnit for unit
testing as a must have tool -- anything equivalent in the OLAP/Datawarehouse
realm?)

What's the primary difference between the newsgroups "sqlserver.olap" vs
"sqlserver.datawharehouse". I apologize for the crosspost.

Thank you,
Ray

Ray:

For the relational DW/Datamart models I've using ERWin, because it has a few
features that help in defining dimensional models.
For modeling cubes you can use a Visio Template called ADAPT. This has
nothing like the advanced funcionality you can find in relational modeling
tools, and, of course, no automatic generation of cubes, but I found it
useful as a first approach to cube design. Besides it can be used to
communicate with savvy users.
This template is available from www.symcorp.com
