Default New error in OLAP job: Unable to connect to the registry on the server - 02-20-2004 , 10:12 PM

We have a number of SQL Server Agent cube processing jobs, that have
run stably under a domain account for months. But, since the last
couple of weeks, these jobs started abending with the error: "Unable
to connect to the registry on the server, or you are not a member of
the OLAP Administrators group on this server". The server then has to
be rebooted, and barely survives a day or so.

In checking earlier posts, they all seemed to discuss static config.
issues (like SP3 on the AS client), which cause the error repeatably.
However, in this case, the error starts somewhat at random. But once
it occurs, the error persists till the server is rebooted.

This is a managed Win2K server with SQL SP3 and all security hotfixes.

Check out these..

1) Install SP3 on the client computer.
2) Whether the remote registry service on the client computer is running...else start it..
3) Add your user account to the OLAP Administrators group or directly to the Data folder.
4) Install hotfix - for more information, see "FIX: Error Messages May Occur During Parallel Processing of Partitions After You Apply SQL Server 2000Analysis Services SP3" in the Microsoft Knowledge Base.

Cheers

Thanks for your suggestions. I already checked items 1-3, but the
Partition Parallel Processing hotfix may be worth trying. Even though we
have no actual parallel processing of cube partitions, the hotfix
description also says:

If you already applied this hotfix, how did it go?
