Default new database entry with impact on selected cube dimension? - 11-21-2006 , 09:38 AM

Hi Newsgroup,

i use a small table in MS Access. One column shows (until now) only two
possible dates (2006-10 and 2006-09). I created a cube with AS2000 and one
dimension is the described date-column.

Now i need a few more entries in the table which should have 2006-11 as
value in the dimension row. If i write the new lines directly in the db-file
and try to re-prepare the cube, AS2000 throw a failure message like "found
an unknown element in the date column" with the date value i just added
before.

Is it possible to expand the current cube's date dimension for what i have
in mind?
How would be the correct and recommended way? Or do i have to delete the
cube and re-build it?

Thanks in advance!

Regards
Wolf

I have found the answer. I post it here for other people who are new to this
topic (like myself )
In AS2000 expand the database where your cube is in. Select the folder
shared dimensions (right under the cubes folder) and there you find the
dimensions in the state when you created them. Now edit the dimension which
got new values in the datafiles and make an incremental update. After this
procedure your cube is up to date
