Default Need a Guide or Book for Developing OLAP with MsSql2k - 08-24-2003 , 06:13 AM

Hi OLAP Gurus,

I am about to develope my first OLAP implementation with MsSQL2000
Analysis Services with Crystal Analysis as Client software.

Previously I only create a simple cube for demo, since Now I should
develope real project, I need knowledge about, such as :
- A way to transfer data from OLTP to OLAP database
(on scheduled basis)
- How to design OLAP DB
- If user want to analyze : Profit Margin, Sales & Sales
Return, how should I design the OLAP DB ?

Is there any good Book or Guide/Docs somewhere about developing OLAP
with MsSQL2000 Analysis Services ?

Many thanks in advance,
Krist

Just curious -- what are you using Crystal Analysis as the client? Was this
the result of an evaluation against other products?

Hi Nigel,
Actually I only compared between MS Data Analyzer , Crystal Analysis &
EXCEL.
My consideration upon choosing Crystal Analysis is :
- enough functionality
- cheap

Do you have any other recommendation ?

Thanks,
Krist

Here are some good titles:
Microsoft(r) SQL Server(tm) 2000 Analysis Services Step by Step
by Olap Train
MDX Solutions: With Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services
by George Spofford

The title of the book is "Professional SQL Server 2000 Data Warehousing with
Analysis Services".
For me is the more complete.
