Default Multiple Member Selection in a filter dimension - 08-25-2003 , 08:33 PM

Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone knew of a front end tool to provide multiple
member selection of a filter dimension for MS Analysis Services.

Example ... we have one measure (Sales$) and four dimensions as
follows

Time
-Year
-Qtr
-Month

Location
-Country
-State
-Metro/Regional

Products
-Groups
-Sub Groups

Sales Teams
-Team
-Sub Team

What I want to do is display the grid as follows:-

Time --------
Location
Quote:

for ALL Products (top level parent member), but select perhaps three
of the five members of a sub team dimension, rather than the defined
parent Team member. The results whould of course display this somehow
with a filter list appended to the interface/report.

Does anyone know of a front end tool that enables this for the user
graphically without writing MDX (we are talking business uses here)?
Hyperion Analyzer used to perform this very nicely, but no longer
supports Analysis Services :-(

Thanks in advance
JPO

Hi there Andreas,

i have grabbed a copy of MIS Plain, and I can't work out how you would
filter multiple members of a dimension. Looking at the slicer on the
left you still can only select one member, the tick moves from one ot
the other when you click the member. I've tried holding down the ctrl
key, right clicking etc. can't seem to work it out.

Try the demo of MIS Plain http://www.misag.com/plain. It supports multiple
member selection of a filter.

If you have any questions don't hesitate to get back to me.

Justin,

XLCubed can also do this.
If this is a feature that is commonly desired in a front-end tool I'll
happily add this to the functionality tables that assess the Excel
add-ins on my website:
