Default Multilangauge Cubes - 06-15-2004 , 08:26 AM

Hi!
Sorry if this is an obvious newbie question, but I am dealing with cubes
that must support multiple languages for the first time.
By setting the member captions I can control the language member names
are displayed in, but how do I control the names displayed for cubes and
dimensions?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Bob

You have to support the additional languages within your client applicaction.
There is no multilanguage support for Server object names in AS 2000.
This will be solved in Yukon, though.

Our product generates local cube files that translate all parts of a source
cube into other languages. Translation is provided for names of cubes,
dimensions, hierarchies, levels, measures, calculated members, members, and
member properties. Local cube files can be generated for multiple languages
in one DTS task.

This solution to the OLAP translation challenge will not work in every
situation, but it is one way to translate AS 2000 cubes.
