I'm not saying that your users are not valid users, just that the issue
may be network related. The AS server would have to contact an AD Domain
Controller in order to authenticate.
One way to test if this could be an issue would be to set up a local
user on the AS server and assign this user to a security role in AS.
Then set up a local user on the client machine with the identical
username and password. Now when you logon to the client machine as this
new user, it will use pass through authentication and map to the local
user on the server, effectively bypassing the need to contact any Domain
Controllers.
If the above approach does work then you have an AD issue and will need
someone with more AD experience than I have
