think you need to install pts on the clients ? and you need to install the version of pts according to the version of your sql server. That would propably meaning pts from sp3 - you have a light and a full. Ptsfull is all mdac and ptslight is only olap (i think..) So get a hold of sql server sp3 installation disk and look in folder msolap for ptsfull.exe. Thanks Michael! But I forgot to mention, i did install ptslite. When that didn't work, i removed it then install ptsfull to ensure MDAC is installed. But this didn't work as well. HELP! Hi, I had the same problem. Install all the latest service packs and that seemed to fix the problem. I tried exactly what you had and could not get it to work. There's another post in this group (look for .udl) where somebody shows you how to test to see if your Provider is, generally, working. You create an empty text file with .udl as the extension, save it, and then double click on it and see if you can select your provider from the first tab without it throwing an error.
