Default MSMDPUMP.DLL - 02-16-2006 , 05:22 PM

What are the alternatives to using the datapump for providing HTTP
access to my cubes? I'm using OWC as the client. I have a very large
cube that seems to be choking when queried via the datapump. If I take
the datapump out of the picture and query locally I have no problems.
If I create a much smaller subcube and query via the datapump I have no
problems. It is only when querying the large cube via the datapump
that I have problems.

Thanks

its a limitation of the datapump.
the system must rely on IIS and there is an overhead which slow down the
access.

AS2000 cubes can be accessed with the XML/A protcol too (better performance
then the datapump, but still slower then a direct connection), but you need
to buy a driver to use this access in your OWC activex. (this is not a
default provider)

http://xmlforanalysis.com/odbotoxmla.htm

AS2005 use the XML/A protocol which is better but also support the
compression.
there is a native driver, so a client can use this driver to access an
AS2005 cube other the web, but its not compatible with the XML/A for AS2000
:-(
