Default msmdarch is silently ignoring restore request - 05-16-2004 , 10:03 PM

I rin msmdarch utility to restore Analysis Services
database from a command line. It exits immediately without
any messages and without doing anything.

Environment:
MS SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services DE SP3a
Windows 2000 Pro

The command (all in one line, there are no hard CRs):
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Analysis
Services\Bin\msmdarch" /r mycomputer "C:\Program
Files\Microsoft Analysis
Services\Data\" "asMIR.cab" "C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Analysis Services\Data\RestoreLog.txt" "C:\Temp"

The utility exists in the specified location.
The host name looks correct.
The archive file exists at the specified location.
The log folder exists, the logfile does not.
The temp folder exists.
Manual restore from Analysis Manager from the same .cab
file works fine.

Any ideas?

I tried that with the same result. I also tried /a with
the same result. The only switch that works is /?.

Has anyone seen this problem?

We had this and I think it was down to the exact
parameters and quotes.

Type the computer name in ""
