Default Are MSAS2K5 32 & 64 bit archives compatible for sure? - 02-06-2006 , 05:42 PM

Greetings all,

I am discussing a scenario in which we will process cubes on a 32 bit
server and deploy on a 64 bit. That might seem backwards, but we are
merging into an existing environment.

We would like to use the Archive/Restore process to deploy these OLAP
databases to our 64-bit publishing servers.

Question #1) Are these files binary compatible?
Question #2) Is this process supported by Microsoft?
Question #3) Is there anything else I should be worrying about? <s>

I recall testing this during the beta, and it seemed to work. But that
was pre-release code and I don't have an environment where I can test
this right now.

Is anybody currently doing this?

Thanks and regards,

Tom

The file format should be fully compartible between 32 and 64bit OS's.

I cannot think of something you need to worry in this scenario.

Edward.
