Default migration from 2000 to 2005 - 05-09-2006 , 12:12 PM

Hello
Is there a way I can migrate an olap database 2000 to 2005 if I only have
installed 2005 on my server? Can I use Integration Services for this task? How

You need to have Analysis Services 2000 (server) somewhere (not necessarily
on the same machine as AS2005). AS2005 comes with Migration Wizard (right
click in SQL Management Studio on the server item and use 'Migrate'; or
search for MigrationWizard.exe in %ProgramFiles%). The wizard can also
generate just the migration script (it connects to AS2000 and generates the
script that you can later run on AS2005 either manually with SQL Management
Studio or automatically with an Integration Services task).

If you just have an AS2000 backup file (.cab), you cannot restore that on
AS2005, nor you can use it with Migration Wizard. You'll need to install
back AS2000 somewhere and restore the .cab.
