Default Measure dimension can't be dragged to rows - 12-19-2005 , 03:08 AM

I have just created a cube and deployed according to the analysis
service tutorial in SQL Server 2005 on-line books, I can browse it in
both Visual Studio and Management Studio.

However, the "measure" dimenstion has a little problem:
1.it can't be dragged to rows (Y-axis) as in Excel pivot table
2.as it is dragged to columns, it can't be removed as a whole, must be
removed one by one

Also I wonder how I can publish cube to end users? Visual Studio and
Management Studio are not meant for end user use, although, I think,
for power user to create cube is fine.

Any comments are highly appreciated.

Right click on one of the measures, choose "Commands and Options", under
the "Report" tab, change the "Display Totals as" option to "Row
Headings".

I think this is just a limitation of the control, I don't know any way
around this. You can right click and choose the "Remove Total" option,
which might be slightly faster than dragging totals off the grid.

In terms of the MS clients the most common ones are Reporting Services
and Excel.

The browser in BIDS is derivative of the Office Web Components (OWC)
which can be embedded into your custom application, either web or
windows forms. Note that end users require an Office license in order to
use OWC.
