Default Many-many relationship in AS2005 question... - 11-03-2005 , 05:52 AM

Hi,

does it possible in AS2005 to use the many-many relationship for a dimension
without having a fact table.

I'm in this case:

Characteristic <-- CharacteristicsForCar --> Car <-- Sales

I have a characteristic dimension & a car dimension.
To use the many-many relationship, I have to create a measure group based on
the CharacteristicsForCar table, can I bypass this?
Can I do the many-many without creating the measure group?

today I hide this measure group to the end user, but if I can remove it....

thanks.

Jerome.

"To use the M:M relationship, I have to create a measure group based on the
CharacteristicForCar table, can I bypass this?"
Ans: No -- that intermediate measure group is what allows you to express the
M:M relationship

"Can I do the M:M without creating the measure group?"
Ans: No. As you found, you can hide it if you wish. Normally I have at least
one measure which I create as a "count" measure to represent how many cars
roll up to a given Characteristic.
