Default Managing Analysis Server Remotely - 12-30-2004 , 05:29 AM

I am trying to remotely manage the Analysis Server, but getting "Your
permissions on the server computer do not allow you to administer this
Analysis server."

One the client, I have saved the server password (Windows/Domain password),
I have even tried manually editing the connection strings, but still getting
the above error when I try to connect to the Analysis server using
Management Console.

Analysis Server
Windows 2003 + SQL 2000 SP3 + Analysis Services SP3
OLAP Repository in SQL
Machine is member of Domain

Remote Machine/Client
Windows XP SP2 + Analysis Services SP3 (Client Tools Only)
Machine is not a member of Domain
TCP/IP Access to server (This machine connects over dialup)

when your 2 computers are not in the same domain, you have to create a
username/password which is excatly the same as your Win XP login name.

and this user must be member of the olap adminsitrator of the remote server.
Because the user must have access to the remote registry where are stored
some information.
If you still have some problems, verify that the olap administrator group
has access to the olap server registry entry (under
HKLM/software/microsoft...) and also this group must have access to the
msolap$ shared folder (in read/write) and the associated folders on the
remote server.

to test quickly the remote access add the user to the local administrators
group of the remote server + olap administrator (local administrators group
give access to all the resource easily, but its not recommended)
