Thread-Topic: Linked cube changes thread-index: AcYYaaOvf/rwyMQXSRymwfRkMGnexQ== X-WBNR-Posting-Host: 65.103.98.1 From: =?Utf-8?B?QW1hZGV1cyBDb25zdWx0aW5n?= <Amadeus (AT) community (DOT) nospam Subject: Linked cube changes Date: Fri, 13 Jan 2006 09:49:02 -0800 Lines: 35 Message-ID: <9E52C994-2AED-441B-A2DA-110A4403E635 (AT) microsoft (DOT) com MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="Utf-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Newsreader: Microsoft CDO for Windows 2000 Content-Class: urn:content-classes:message Importance: normal Priority: normal X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.3790.0 Newsgroups: microsoft.public.sqlserver.olap NNTP-Posting-Host: TK2MSFTNGXA03.phx.gbl 10.40.2.250 Path: TK2MSFTNGXA02.phx.gbl!TK2MSFTNGP08.phx.gbl!TK2MSFT NGXA03.phx.gbl Xref: TK2MSFTNGXA02.phx.gbl microsoft.public.sqlserver.olap:66206 X-Tomcat-NG: microsoft.public.sqlserver.olap I have a cube that contains two linked objects (cubes, including dimension and measures) and when I make a change to the dimensions or measures of the original cube it doesn't seem to refresh the metadata in the cube containing the linked objects. The only way that I've been able to get the information to update is if I delete the linked object and then re-add it to the cube. That's fine except then I have to go through and reconfigure all the dimensions, on the Dimension Usage tab, as well as any other changes that I made to that cube in the combined cube. Example: Cube 1: This cube has at least one dimension and one measure. Cube 2: This cube is used for linking multiple cubes together. Steps to reproduce: - Link Cube 1 into Cube 2, save, deploy, process cubes...everything works fine - In Cube 1 add an additional measure, save, deploy, process cubes. At this stage I usually get an error saying "Errors in the OLAP storage engine: The metadata for the statically linked measure group, with the name of 'XXXXX', cannot be verified against the source object." To make this error go away I have to delete and relink Cube 1 in Cube 2. Shouldn't I be able to just refresh it? The same problem applies with Dimensions that are linked in through the linked cube. If I remove the dimension there is no way to re-add it with the appropriate relationship to the cube (Regular Relationship) without deleting and re-adding the linked cube. -- Steve Loper Amadeus Consulting |
