Default Issue with same users in multiple roles - 08-06-2004 , 02:07 AM

On AS 8.0.760 :

We have two roles on our database :

- 'data owners' with no restrictions
- 'Users' with dynamic security (Security Fact Table
Approach)

Everything works fine unless a user belongs to both groups
and then we're getting an error on some reports :

'Access denied to the cube xxxx.'

For normal 'Users' if they don't have access they get an
empty report, not an access denied error.

Is this a know problem ?

Cheers,
David

That's the way it works...

If you want a user to have a "combination" of the two roles, you have
a to create a third role with the complete definition and assign the
user to the third role.

Assigning a user to two roles qualifies as "a mistake"

I Guess NOT.. We needn't create a separate role with the Union of rights...

Even when you add the User to both the roles, it should work perfectly fine.
We had used this approach earlier without any problems.
