Default Integrated Security vs. named user - 02-05-2006 , 03:12 PM

Hi,

if some questions about security and users in AS 2005.

- is it true that you can only connect to AS2005 with integrated security?
- what means the Integrated Security property in an ADOMD.NET connection
string are there any other Values possible than SSPI (Basic doesn' t work)?
-is there any possaibilty to secure an XMLA connection over http with a thin
client without using Integrated Security?
- Is it possible to use an TCP/IP connection without Integrated Security?

thank for help

Stefan

DAW: using a tcp/ip connectin, then Yes. We only support trusted
connections.
For http access, you can put the uid and pwd on the connectstring and then
IIS will log you on to that account (if you configure it to use Basic
authentication).

DAW: At the heart of it, AS supports *only* integrated security. Using http
access delays the authentication one hop :-)

DAW: Yes, if using http access.

DAW: No, sorry. That is it.

Hello Dave,

Thank you for this informations. Just to get the things clear in my brain
three more questions:

- For a connection to AS 2005 an user needs to have an windows account?

- how do i configure a basic connection?

- an anonymous access is possible with the IIS IUSR account?

thanks for your help

stefan
