Default Inconsistent query results - 01-05-2006 , 03:56 AM

Hi,
I get inconsistent results when quering my cube.
For example statements:

'select product.children on columns from sales'
and
'select company.children on columns from sales'

return results that sum up to different totals.
On the other hand queries:

'select {product} on columns from sales'
and
'select {company} on columns from sales'

return exact totals for the datat.

When i use Exel to query thr cube I'm getting different totals for rows
and columns in single pivot table!
What can be the reason for such behaviour?
I already fully reprocessed dimensions and cubes, I checked if every
dimension table have proper relations set to fact table so there are no
duplicate records. Default member is 'all member' for all dimensions.
No custom 'all member' formula. What else should i do?

Thanks,
Martin

If you executes your MDX query in MDX Sample Application, do you get strange

Hello,
Yes. The result was the same. I used one query to get a total and then
another one to query for the elements, which were copied (using XMLA)
to XLS. After that I calculated sums manually - results were different.
I recreated the aggregats (i changed storage type to molap and than to
holap again) and reprocessed again - now it works fine but how can i
know if it can happen again in the future? How often do you check if
olap totals are right? Does't it have something to do with icremental
dimension updates?
Does MSAS have any mechanism to check for data consistency?

Regards,
Martin
