Default Including dimension created from multiple db in MS AS - 05-14-2004 , 11:01 AM

Hi,
I am using MS Analysis services for cube building. At the
database level, we are using three different database
schema to keep customer data, standard data and code tables
on the same server.I need to create the dimensions from
all these 3 databases and include all these dimensions in
a cube.

I am able to create shared dimensions from three different
database. But I am not able to include those dimensions in
cube structure. I am wondering when MS AS allows to create
the dimensions from multiple database, why it is not
listing the dimensions created from other database
(datasource).

I feel, there should be someway, which I am not aware.
pls. help me ..

thanks,
partha

It's not possible. What you'll need to do is create one database and build
views that source data from those other databases.

While it allows creating the dimensions from separate DB,
I really don't understand why MS AS was designed not
include those dimensions in a cube structure.
Ok, if it is designed for some reason, then what is the
use of allowing us to create 'those' dimensions from
separate DB.

It is really misleading.
