Default Improving HTTP access for slow connections? (SSAS2005) - 10-07-2006 , 11:25 AM

Hi,

I want to know what are the best configuration option in both the client
connection string & server config to improve the speed for my users?

they are connected through a slow connection and they use Excel.
So the pivottable.

the initial connection is the slowest part because the system transfert the
cube metadata which is big (100 dimensions, attribute & measures to load)

The compression level is set to 9
the packet size to 32000
protection level = connect

When I monitor the network traffic 60% of the traffic go from the server to
the client and 40% from the client to the server!!!!
So why there is a so big upload traffic? can I reduce it?
which parameter can I change on the server side?
there is any option in the msmdpump.ini file to optimize this?

the initial connection takes 2minutes!!!
after the initial connection, the performance is good.

also the bandwidth is not used at 100%.
If I download something from the server (using an HTTP or FTP access) I can
download 2 time faster and I'm at the maximum speed available.
So I should be able to double the speed for my XMLA access and then reach
100% of the bandwidth. (how?)

thanks for your help and guides.

Jerome.
