Default improving HTTP access to AS2000 cubes.... how to? - 11-01-2005 , 12:41 PM

Hi,

I have some remote users which access the cubes using Excel other the HTTP
protocol.
Opening a cube is slow (1minute) other a 2mbps network.

I know, I have a lot of dimensions to send to the client.
but maybe there is anything to do?

which parameter in the connectionstring I could change to help me?
(today I'm using standard parameters for the connection string)

thanks.

Jerome.

Sorry, for not answering your direct question, but would you consider trying
out recently released AS2005. The performance profile of HTTP access in
AS2005 is very different from AS2000 - it doesn't depend on the number of
dimensions and/or complexity of the query, but only on the size of the
resultset, thanks to the XMLA protocol support in AS2005.

I know, but I can't use 2005 today.

does the AS2005 provider can access AS2000 cubes using the xmla protocol?
I have no success with my first tests.

AS2005 provider can access AS2000 cubes by delegating to AS2000 provider in
OLEDB.
ADOMD.NET can connect to AS2000 cubes both natively and through XMLA SDK.
