Default http remote access slow (again), how to reduce the members of my dimensions? - 11-06-2005 , 07:29 AM

hi,

I have analyzed why my remote users are slow, its simply because they ask
for 6 dimensions at the same time.
in some cubes I'm using only part of these dimension.
For example, I have a customer dimension with 100 000 members, in a cube I'm
using only half of these members (like my survey cube, not all customers
respond)
so for a remote user its slow (I'm using excel & pivottable) because too
many data is sent to the end user.

What is the best way to reduce the dimensions in these cubes without having
to create a new dimension?
Does the security could help me?
I'm using AS2000.

I have started my migration process to 2005, but we don't go online until 6
months.
I hope that this issue will disappear with the XMLA protocol.

thanks for your comments.

Hello.

You may create a grouping level on this dimensions to decrease the
amount of data sent to end user.

I'm not sure that XMLA will solve this problem too.

Hope this help.
