Default http connection to MSOLAP - 05-21-2004 , 01:56 AM

hi,

Our users is connecting to Analysis Manager2000 through
Excel. We are currently in the process of connecting
analysis Manager through web. As we want to get full power
of excel, we are opening the Excel file through net.
Whenever we open the excel file and try to drag and drop,
we are getting two times authentication screen. "Multi
dimensional screen" will show to the user, "http://Server
name" will be inside by default, user have to key in the
user name and password, upon entering user detail, cubes
will be listed. And user have to select. Please see that,
all these steps I have done during the creation of excel
template.

Lets say I have created a role and customised dimension in
Analysis Manager, (for eg: I want the data of
Singapore, from the COUNTRY dimension). Come back to web,
if I have this scenario, excel will ask again for
authentication. Some time a message also will come "Access
denied". After this screen "Multi dimensional Screen" will
pop up.

All the above is working if i dont use web.

OS/ Service Pack : Win 2k Advanced Server/
Service Pack 4
SQL Server : SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 3a
Webserver used : IIS 5.0
Site : default site stopped, site newly
created with Windows NT authentication.
File : Msolap.asp, msmdpump.dll
Excel : Test.xls

summary
1. Whenever I open the site it will ask authentication
(this one i can bypass by putting anonymous)
2. Msolap.asp is NT authentication
3 whenever I open excel, it asking two times
authentication.

How to bypass the authentication pop up from excel ? Is
there any way to pass the First SITE Authentication to
Excel, so that pop up will not come up.?

I couldnt find any documents regarding this scenario. All
of the documents are pointing to the OWC components.
Thanks in advance for any help regarding this.

Regards
Sajith
Singapore.
