Default How to suppress subtotals in Excel dimensions? - 10-01-2003 , 02:11 PM

For some dimensions that are accessed from cube-based sources, I always want
to suppress the subtotals. For example, in a date-based dimension I want to
suppress the QUARTER totals for any measure that is shown on the pivot
table. I do want the annual and monthly totals to show, though. I don't
want the user to have to change the Field Properties every time this
dimension is used.

Is there a way that I can do this in the design of the OLAP cube dimension?

Thanks.

Jon

You can hide the level entirely (Visible property). But if I understand the
problem, you want to hide it under certain circumstances which isn't doable
server-side.

That's not exactly what I want to do. I don't want to hide the entire
level - I just want to default the subtotals to NONE as opposed to the
default of AUTOMATIC. Otherwise I have to change them in Field Settings
each time I use the dimension.
