Default How to set role? - 04-19-2006 , 05:56 AM

Dear all,

I have a problem in setting security in my data cube.

I restricted user access to certain dimension data. For example, some users
can only view Branch A, B and C and other users can only view Branch D and E.
It is OK when I user test role in cube browser. However, it doesn't work when
I view the data cube in Excel. It still shows all branch to restricted users.
Do I miss any steps in setting up the role? What extra things I should so
that I can restrict view in Excel? Thanks!

Regards,
Polly

which version of AS do you use? 2000 or 2005?
does your user is member of 1 role only?
(mapping of the NT account to 1 role)

have you defined a role with the "everyone" linked to it?

I am using AS 2005. I have created a role for administrator which includes me
only. Then another role called "Branch A" which restrict user to view Branch
A data only. I haven't created any role which allow everyone to access the
cube.

Hi! Jeje.

Just now, I have used an account name which I have not given any role to it.
That user should not be allowed to view or refresh the cube information.
However, he passed the security. Why?

Thanks for your reply.

Polly
