Default How to connect SSAS 05 to Oracle?? - 03-07-2006 , 04:46 AM

I am very confused on what is the best way to connect to an Oracle DW.

Normally I use "Native OLE DB - Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle"
because it works fine.
On the other hand I managed to debug a TNSNAME problem on the SSAS
server *only* thanks to the better detail/quality of the error
messages returned by the ".Net Providers - Oracleclient data
provider".

If I use the latter type of connectivity I can browse my dsv tables all
right, but as soon as I try to refresh the .dsv I get an error:
"System.Data 'column' name cannot be null. Parameter name:column"

The surprising thing is that the deployment ends successfully.

Can somebody shed some light on this issue??

Cheers

Enzo

Generally, I would recommend using the native providers -- they will perform
better on the server-side during processing. Once you've debugged the
connectivity problem and solved it, you should be able to switch back to the
native provider.

I'm not sure about the error refreshing the DSV...

Thanks,
Akshai
