Default How to archive cube - 02-18-2004 , 02:55 PM

Hi there !

I wonder how to export/import ( or copy) a cube from other PC in the
network. For ex. I want to transfer the designed cube (without data) to
notebook and make the conection with 'real' database on another place. I
use OLAP manager and SQL 7.0

Thanks a lot.

Hi,

In AS2000 we can do that with going into the AS manager do a copy of the
cube register the olap server where it has to go to and do a paste then.

But I am not sure if that was also available with OLAP 7.

HTH,
Bas

You can right click on the cube in Analysis Manager and select "Archive Database" which stores the .Cab file on the given physical location.Selecting the .Cab from another machine's Analysis Manager with Restore database will restore the data source for the cubes and the cubes.Though I'm not sure about SQL 7.0.With AS 2000 it works.
