Default good book for AS - 12-21-2004 , 10:20 PM

Cam someone recommend a good newbie book for Analysis Services? One with
step by step labs would be ideal.

TIA, ChrisR

Mine of course Seriously, each book has its strong sides. Probably I
would recommend them in following scenarios

Analysis Services Step By Step - First book to get overall introduction into
Analysis Services.
Microsoft OLAP Solutions - More detailed book, but also outdated, since it
was written for OLAP Services 7.0. But I still like it
Fast Track To MDX - Your introduction book to MDX (even before you read MDX
sections of Step By Step). Very easy read. [I am coauthor for this one]
MDX Solutions - The ultimite MDX guide - everything you need to know about
MDX is there. But material is very dense, not an easy read.
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Resouce Guide - Advanced content about performance
tuning, internals etc.

FYI, this book is out of print; but you can read it online here:

http://www.microsoft.com/sql/techinf...it/default.asp

Unfortunately, the online version doesn't come w/ the CD ROM, which has
some good samples on it.
