Default GK - OLAP on XP - 02-24-2004 , 06:51 AM

Hi

In all my documentation I find that OLAP ( Analysis Server / SQL server 2000 ) will only run on Win 2000 or NT sp5. Why not on XP

Hi,

my experience:
no problems with xp professional (for sql you need the
personal-edition)

analysis with xp home doesn't work.

Andrej

I have a local installation of SQLserver 2000 / Analysis on my computer and can connect to any SQL server in our lan and build a cube but when I try to connect to my own local environment it promt that it is too busy or not running ( It is running and not busy !! )

Can you tell me what's the reason for this
And If you are an expert please let me know where it stores the data ( for building a cube ) exactly? Because in all documentation I have this is NOT mentioned

Regards, and thanx in advance

Hi,

tell me what version of XP and SQL Server you have? Which service pack have
you installed for XP and Analysis Server?

Then:
first check under what account is MSSQLServerOLAPService started - put your
account (administrator)
then check if your account is under OLAP Administrator group

AS stores aggregates and you can find it under AS installation folder
most common: ..\Program Files\Microsoft Analysis Services\Data

Regards,
Andrej
