Default Getting Analysis Services up and running - 11-24-2004 , 10:46 AM

Hi all

Running out of options now.

I want to get into OLAP & data cubes, so I installed Analysis services
today.

Win XP Pro - SQL Server 2000 Personal Edition was already running.

When I try to connect to my Analysis Server (all on the same PC) I am told
that "It can't access the registry on the server, or I'm not part of the
OLAP Administrators group".

I installed it all under the same user that I'm trying to access it with and
I'm in mixed mode authentication with services being started by the local
system account.

Please help, I'm stuffed now!

when you install AS, the installation process create a local NT Group called
"OLAP Administrators", add authorized users to this group to allow access to
AS through the Analysis manager console.

If you continue to have some errors, check the security of the c:\progam
files\analysis services folder to insure that the "OLAP Administrators" has
access.
also check the security of the registry entry : HKLM\Software\Microsoft\OLAP
Server (again the "OLAP Administrators" must have access)

Thanks for the help, but being a newby to Analysis server, I fixed it by
trying again the following day, and it reluctantly worked. Performance and
robustness also improved greatly by installing SP3a
