Default General Question about Analysis Services Reliability / Quality - 10-21-2003 , 09:56 AM

We have a large datawarehouse and seem to have many challenges that
may be related to Analysis Services / PTS. In general, here are a
couple issues we know of:

•Once in a while a user can not perform certain tasks while working
with a pivot table in Office Web Components, however, the same
scenario can be performed from Excel. Strange though, only some users
with the same role as others accessing OWC from the same terminal
server.

•Issues related to dividing double by currency (under certain
circumstances)

•Horrible performance when performing many activities from Analysis
Manager

•Issues with when using very specific combination of
partitions/cubes/virtual dimensions… number are correct if there is a
single partition, once separate partitions are correctly created, some
#'s are incorrect. Again, only in specific situations

•Issues related to performing Incremental Builds in certain situations

I don't want to go into any details concerning any one bullet points
above. I'm just curious if other companies (with a large warehouse)
have seen a large number of nuances / issues with Analysis Services in
general??? Seems like the more we rely on our warehouse, the more
issues we fine.

Thanks,
Gary

Hi Gary,

We got a lot of big datawarehouses in the world see also the references
list at http://www.microsoft.com/sql/evaluation/bi/default.asp

I would suggest that you contact PSS (support department of MS) to help you
solving these issues. This is to much to handle by the newsgroup. I hope
that you understand that.

Regards,
Bas
