I have a solution that is working with an MDX query in a DTS-transform data
task that export to a relational table. This is for a budget application
where we use writeback on a cube. At the same time, some cell values are
defined with calculated cells and they will never appear in the writeback
table.

Is an export, in the way I have described, the only way to retrieve data
from calculated cells?

Calculated cells are generated at query (MDX) time. The
approach you are taking is the appropriate solution. I am
using simpler approaches to extract data from Financial
cubes.
