Default Excel/AS Parent Child question - 02-19-2004 , 12:23 PM

Hi all,

Quick question: I have a parent child hierarchy in an AS
cube which has 15 levels. Connecting to the Cube through
an Excel Pivot Table, I am not able to go beyond 8 levels
deep. Is this a known bug?

Thanks,

Mark

Hi Mark,

Implement one of the two of these connection properties:

- Set MDX Compatibility to 2.
- Set MDX Unique Name Style to 1.

Set the MDX Unique Name Style property in the connection string, and then
use the connection string to create the pivot table.

To use MDX Unique Name Style in the connection string, you must edit the
Microsoft Excel OLAP Query File (.OQY). By default, the Microsoft Excel
OLAP Query File is stored in the C:\Documents and
Settings\<User>\Application Data\Microsoft\Queries folder.

HTH,
Bas
