Default Excel as OLAP client of AS2005 - 12-24-2005 , 10:06 AM

I have done search very hard on this topic, but I still can't be sure.
Excel's limitation of 65536 by 256 cells is well known, how about the
Excel plugin for AS2005, if any? (Excel plugin for AS2000 was released
a year ago)
There seems to be a post which claim the limitation is freed in the
plugin, but is it possible for a plugin to overcome the limitation of
its host program?
On the other hand, there are many who are expecting Excel 12, it will
be released about 2Q 2006, and they sincerely believe the OLAP client
will be much better.
In the meantime, if you really need OLAP client for users, find a cheap
one other than ProClarity or Panorama.
Not finding sure information, I have to test it by myself. However, any
comments are highly appreciated.

you found 65536 * 256 a limitation????
the limitation is the human, not Excel.
You'll don't found any Excel plugin which can help you, because this
"limitation" is builtin excel, so any plugin will suffer the same
limitation.
But maybe some tools provide a paging feature.

for as2005.... maybe Intelligentapps provide a new version.

and office 12:

also as in a post 3 months ago:

Client tools for SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services - Where are they?

KoryS made his suggestions about Excel, I don't know why he wants to
include so many things in Excel, but I think it makes sense to host
Excel on server. Every serious enterprise application should have
web-based support in addition to client-server, or in other words, thin
client as well as fat client, and the two should have the same
functionalities. By the way, the dot net applications such as
Management Studio and Development Studio in AS2005 look like a hybride
(of thin client and fat client), or actually I can't tell.

Christmas gift: Excel AddIn 1.5 for Analysis Services 2005

Microsoft released a new release of Excel AddIn for SQL Server Analysis
Services: it's the version 1.5 which is compatible with Analysis
Services 2005, compatible in the sense that it fully navigates
attributes and hierarchies in a meaningful way. Unfortunately, no KPI
support (at least I can't find it).

Is the new Excel Addin 1.5 for SSAS supporting Measure Groups and KPIs
like in the coming Excel 12?

Regards, Marco
