Default Excel is not accessing my OLAP Cubes... - 12-21-2004 , 04:01 AM

Hi,
I've got a AS server with cubes and some client PCs which access to cubes
data through Excel.
It works everywhere except for 2 PC. The first one is running Excel 97 so
maybe I need more stuff to access the cubes.
On the second one, "Excel 2002 SP 3" is running (like all the other PC which
works) but when I try to access the cube it gave me a security issue.
What I do in Excel is :
- Data
- External Data
- Create a query
- Select the OLAP tab
- define the connection to a specific cube
Then when I validate the Wizard which create the Pivot Table to navigate the
Data, I get the error and no way to see any data.
Any idea ?
Regards
Bob

PS : What do you need on a workstation running Excel to access OLAP data ?
MDAC ? PTS ?

You need to get a version of PTS to access the cubes.
Look on the Analysis Services SP3 distribution in the \msolap\install\pts
folder for the files "ptslite.exe" or "ptsfull.exe". ptslite is just the
OLEDB Provider for OLAP (aka PTS) -- ptsfull is PTS + the full mdac stack.
