Hi all, I have a strange problem with Excel 2003. I've the full product installed and I'm trying to connect to Analysis Services 2005. I've installed the OLE DB Provider for SQL Server 9.0 When I try to connect to SSAS, I cannot select an OLE DB Provider as the drop down is not populated. What could be causing this to happen? I've installed the providers already! Thanks Brian |

Hi Brian, Have you created a security role for your cube? If not, you need to create a security role for the cube and put the appropriate users in there. If this is a one server test environment, I would put Domain Users. SHW "Brian Madden" wrote: Hi all, I have a strange problem with Excel 2003. I have security set up, using Everyone for now (still in testing) The problem is before I can even select the cube. On the Create New Data Source form, no OLAP providers are showing up in the Select a provider drop down, so I can't even connect to the to begin with. I have installed the provider for Analysis Services 9.0, and registered to see if that would fix it, but no luck so far Brian SHW wrote: Hi Brian, Have you created a security role for your cube? Brian, please refer to SQL Server 2005 Feature pack list, you have to install Microsoft Core XML Services (MSXML) 6.0 as well. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en Ramunas "Brian Madden" <codecommando (AT) gmail (DOT) com> wrote in message news:1163619939.853071.208620 (AT) h48g2000cwc (DOT) googlegroups.com... Thanks Ramunas, I downloaded MSXML 6.0 and installed it. Then Analysis Services 9.0 provider. Nothing is showing up in Excel still in the providers drop down. Its almost getting to the point where I feel I may try to reinstall Excel just to see if that will do anything. Any other ideas on what it could be? Hi Brian, Did reinstalling Exel fix it? With MSAS 2000, I ran into many cases where the client and the server were on different service packs and they did not see each other. Check to make sure you have the same version of service packs and hot fixes on both. SHW "Brian Madden" wrote: Thanks Ramunas, I downloaded MSXML 6.0 and installed it.
