I keep getting this error when trying to install SQL 2000 SP4 Analysis
Services. I don't have any previous version of Analysis Services
installed. It gets to about 97% and gives me the error.

I tried shutting down WMI, MSSQLServer, Virus software, etc. but still
get the error. Has anyone come across this that can help?

Thanks. I found that article prior to posting to the board, but
unfortunately it didn't work. I looked in my registry and I don't even
have a key by the name of: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\OLAP
Server\Uninstall Info.

"During the Analysis Services 2000 SP3 installation, the installer searches
for the RootDir registry key value, and the installation fails when it does
not find it."

You must have one. Not having one is causing the problem. That is the point
in the KB article. It walks you through the process of creating the registry
entry.
