Default Error installing Analysis Services - 11-02-2005 , 01:05 AM

Hello,

I downloaded
(msolap)
SQL2000.AS-KB884525-SP4-x86-ENU.EXE 45509 KB
and
(sqlServer SP4)
SQL2000-KB884525-SP4-x86-ENU.EXE 68536 KB

from

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

In stalled Sql Server sp4 upgrade on my winXP workstation (sp2) with a
Pentium 3.2 gig processor for Sql Server Personal edition. This went fine.
Then I installed the msolap analysis services on the same workstation. That
went fine. Then I installed Sql Server sp4 on my xp laptop (sp2 also) which
has a Pentium 1.8 gig processor. This upgradel went fine. Then I tried to
install msolap analysis services on the laptop same as the workstation. I
kept getting an error message near the end of the install

"Severe
An error occured during the move data process: -145"

I defragged the laptop, restarted it a few times, and still get the same
error. Everything on the laptop is the same as the workstation except for
the processors (well, and I have Lotus Notes mail client loaded on the
laptop, not the workstation). I would appreciate any suggestions if there is
anything I could do about this to get around the error - like maybe a
registry setting change, move a file, download something else. Or if I am
just out of luck with the laptop, please let me know.

Thanks,
Rich

Well, I found the answer to my problem. I did not install Analysis services.
So after I installed it, I was able to run the service pack upgrade. So the
trick was to first have the analysis services installed.
