Default encrypt remote cube - 01-22-2004 , 10:40 AM

Hope you can help with a tricky design issue.

We're building a bespoke web app for a customer that talks to a couple
of Analysis Services cubes via XMLA - no problem there. The trick is
that they insist on hosting the whole 3-tier architecture on their
site, with us to update the data daily via a VPN link (we have the raw
source data in SQL 2000 at our end). This should work fine, as they
have Analysis Services (cubes are 100% MOLAP, so no relational SQL
database needed), IIS etc. at their end.

However, we want to protect our intellectual property in the system,
hence we don't want any SysAd guys at their end to be able to see (or
get their grubby techy fingers on) the design of our cubes. Is their a
way of encrypting the cubes at their end, whilst still providing full
Analysis Services functionality to the web app? Then we could just
copy a newly updated cube to them over the VPN each day - would that
be feasible?

Thanks for any help as always.

Morley.

Hi

I was just wondering if you had made any progress with this. I have a
similar problem. We can't really think of anything at the moment
except maybe encrypting a local cube file. I would appreciate your
thoughts

Thanks
