Default easy way of creating a virtual cube, and filtering on it? - 08-17-2005 , 07:12 PM

Hello,

Is there some way to mimic a filter on a virtual cube?

We basically have a set of users that we'd like to only see certain
[virtual] cubes, with a filter on, say, a certain product category. We
can easily set up users via our own back end to only see certain cubes.
And I thought it would be easy to just set up a filter on a virtual
cube, just like you do on a regular cube, but it turns out the virtual
cube doesn't have a filter property.

I realize the "right" way to do this would be to set up the custom
dimension security. For various convoluted reasons we can't do that
right now. Is there another way to mimic a filter on a virutal cube?

thanks for any advice,
Sylvia

have you try the security?
you can manage which members are available on each cube using the role based
security.

so the user will see only what you want to display
