Default distinct count measure becomes #VALUE! ... - 10-02-2003 , 08:54 PM

Hi.

I have a distinct count measure that becomes #VALUE! in
Excel XP when I set the dimension on the page filter to
(Multiple Items). Is it the same with Excel 2000? How can
I show the measure's value? I know that the total might
not be reliable because it is a distinct measure but our
users still want to see the value.

TIA,

Jenny

This is a documented issue with Distinct Count. When you do multi-member
selection in page filter - the measure needs to be agregated only across
those members, and Distinct Count in Analysis Services 2000 cannot be
aggregated over arbitrary shape.
We always beleive that it is better to return an error then incorrect
result.

Hi,
do you think that it will be available in a next patch or version of
Analysis Services ?
Thanks in advance
Alex

We don't plan to add this feature to the next service pack (SP4).
I still cannot comment on the next version (Yukon), but very soon in PDC
many details of Yukon will become publicly available.
